Reflections of sunlight
Seen from my window
Fills up the sky
And the street far below.
A ball so bright
Like never before
Incredible sunlight
Sunshine galore.
Children out playing
They shield their eyes
For some it’s so bright
It’s making them cry.
Don’t stare for too long
You may even go blind
The sun is so bright
It’s much hotter this time.
Where are the clouds
To offer us shelter?
It’s getting too hot
I’m starting to swelter.
There is no protection
Get into the shade
Fires are igniting
What a mess we have made.
Before very long
We will need to withdraw
Come out of our houses
And run from it all.
Our pools evaporating
No water to drink
Steam coming out
of our own kitchen sinks.
When it gets dark
We should plan to go
Heading far north
Where they still have some snow.
Too much pollution
No sunscreen left
We have to do something
I’m scared half to death.
We knew it was coming
Not much we can do
We’re a planet in crisis
Protected by few.
Money and greed
All their deregulations
Poisoning fuels
Causing annihilation.

And we are so cold here!! I can’t wait for sunshine to come back. You should take vacations to cool places during these times. People here go somewhere warm at least once every winter.

I moved from Woodstock, New York to Florida. I do miss the snow….my fireplace and hot chocolate. There are a lot of Snowbirds here from Canada. The sun was unusually bright today. It got me thinking, thus my poem. Hope you have a great time in the UK. π

Thank you, Isha! π Your comments mean so much to me!!!! π Glad you liked this one. We had a thunderstorm today. After the storm, we were blessed with a breathtaking, bold sunset. When I saw the sun, it looked like a huge ball of fire. I couldn’t help but worry about the long-term effects of pollution. I kept thinking what it would be like, if there was no barrier between us and the intense, powerful rays of the sun.
It’s all very scary! :O We’ve got to…..SAVE OUR PLANET!!!!!!!

Things have started getting real… All the adverse changes that we were only reading about, hearing about and watching have actually begun manifesting and as you said, it’s very scary and yes, we have to save our planet π’ππ

Well written poem. π The whole world has had enough of us and extreme weather is becoming the norm – snow storms in the north, drought here in CT.
