BIRDS OF A FEATHER

So fussy, so angry
Filled with remorse
Taking it out on
The weak link, of course.

Wondering what
Motivates you
To get up in the morning
With so little to do.

So quick to find fault
You gossip and mourn
The loss of your loved ones
Brings pain and such scorn.

The others around you
Annoy and outrage
Your sense of balance
The life that you’ve made.

You want them near
Yet push them away
A reminder of you
In your younger days.

You sit there and judge
You hide and you crawl
Unable to stand up
For fear you will fall.

The numbers, the cards
They help you to mask
The sorrow inside you
For coming in last.

You’ve made me uncomfortable
I’m not going to stay
I shouldn’t have come
I’m walking away.

What was I thinking?
Should have known better
Like birds of a feather
You all stick together.

You have your cronies
Your pals, so called friends
Guess I knew from the start
That I didn’t fit in.

  1. Well written and I agree… that is why I took the “road less traveled” and that made all the difference…. 🙂
