There’s no walking it back
We ran out of time
Someone’s heart is broken
I’m afraid that it’s mine.
Too many stories told
Too many alibis
Too many lame excuses
Too many blatant lies.
No trust we can defer to
No safety net below
No lifeline to grab onto
So much I didn’t know.
Your charm ignites my passion
But you’re an actor thru and thru
You set the stage, you choreographed
Every scene I played with you.
I was duped, deceived and lied to
I believed the things you said
I swallowed “hook, line and sinker”
As you led me to your bed.
So innocent and vulnerable
It was never fair to me
You had a plan, you walked me thru
Cut me loose, then set me free.

Well written poem and thanks for sharing your thoughts… affairs of the heart is about taking chances, if one doesn’t take the chance, one will not find love… 🙂

Love the quote by Julianne Moore. If nothing else….lost love gives me a wealth of material to draw upon…. when writing poetry! 👍
