BEFORE YOUR EYES

Strained conversation
You now look away
Too little effort
Nothing to say.

Feeling so hopeless
So cold and withdrawn
Don’t think you’ll notice
Once I am gone.

Hard to imagine
I’ve been deceived
Once so connected
Hard to believe.

No stimulation
No rocket fuel
Withholding emotions
So callous, so cruel.

Starved of affection
Unable to breathe
Gasping for air
You watched me bleed.

Stripped naked, embarrassed
Before your eyes
I crumbled, conceded
I wept and I cried.

      1. I’m thrilled if I managed to brighten your day. That makes mine. Your writing is so good, I’m totally relieved to have found you because I missed you very much.

  1. Thank you!!!! I took a break, but I’m back to writing again. Hoping to turn some of my poems into songs. Just bought a Ukulele. Bought it today… at a local music store. Went on YouTube …for a lesson. Can now play…. “YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE and AMAZING GRACE! Too funny!!!!!!! 😎
