PURE EVIL

via Daily Prompt: Abrupt

Abrupt

Such an abrupt disruption of democracy
Out of nowhere, he appears
Brandishing hate, dishonor, and disgrace
Doing what he can to foster fear.

Where are our protocols of honor and pride?
Our standards, thrown by the wayside
Lies become the legitimacy of our institutions
And he adored, though he’s cheated and he lies.

How do we come back, unscathed and unaffected?
Will we ever recover from the damage he’s done?
Can we clean off the dirt and the grease
The filth, the stench, and scum?

The darkness and pure evil
A new concept in exploitation
Everything about this crisis
Leads to destruction of our nation.

  1. Patty, I kept on nodding while reading every single line of your poem. But believe me we are gonna recover and will come out strong..an evil can never take away the beauty of goodness no matter how long it looms..its demise is inevitable.

    1. I will hold tight to your words! Goodness has got to prevail!!!! I am just astounded!!!!! Every day there’s something else worse than the day before. There’s got to be a light at the end of the tunnel! I pray!!!!! Thanks for reading my poem and for your comments. Your optimism is greatly appreciated! Hope you have a wonderful day! πŸ’™

      1. You too Patty. You are right, everyday news have gotten worse than the previous ones..first I thought he will be impeached in few months..this nonsense can’t survive but when you have such strong support in Senate and Congress,it seems like, any fool can survive.

  2. Sometimes it takes a “dark” moment in history for the people to bond together and work to create a better world to live in…this is one of those times..the change will be slow, the road will not be smooth, but change is coming… πŸ™‚

β€œIt’s time for greatness — not for greed. It’s a time for idealism — not ideology. It is a time not just for compassionate words, but compassionate action. A lot of people are waiting for Martin Luther King or Mahatma Gandhi to come back — but they are gone. We are it. It is up to us. It is up to you.” Marian Wright Edelman

    1. Yes, so true!!!! I was never into politics until he got elected. I am sick about it! I’ve been working with some local political groups. It’s time to be engaged and aware!!!!! But…his approval rating keeps climbing!!!! It’s so scary!!!!!!!!

  3. This is how politics changes the world and history is created!!! One good or bad leader becomes a reason for that. It is time for democracy to show it’s importance and existence. And you already started it so Good Luck!!
    Well done for poetry!! πŸ™‚
