YEARNING

When will I feel less haunted?
I don’t know just what to do
Your face …. your smile …. a memory
Can’t  get over losing you.

Feeling lost and empty
A void that can’t be filled
A constant craving …. yearning
Being held against my will.

This twisted …. hopeless feeling
Wrapped around my crippled soul
Is branded in my memory
With every lie you ever told.

Not worth the years I’ve lingered
Suspended in mid air
Hoping you would change your mind
Wanting you to care.

Take back all of the promises
The  swell of tears …. the threats
Give me back the way I felt
Before the day we met.
