DAZED AND CONFUSED

I tried so hard
But, you wanted too much
Nothing I did
Was ever enough.

The bar was too high
Couldn’t reach, had to crawl
Didn’t know all along
I would peak, then I’d fall.

The stage was pre-set
When I  came along
I passed the audition
But,  sang the wrong song.

Three steps ahead
You found someone new
Someone to replace me
To entertain you.

Dazed and confused
Believed it would last
But,  it was all over
It happened so fast.

Caught in a maze
A mouse in a trap
Shown to the door
Fed to the cat.

So sleek and alluring
Looking for prey
No one that you find
Gets a key, gets to stay.
