ELATION

A day at a time
A walk in the park
A flirtatious glance
A gesture, remark.

The touch of your hand
As you take hold of mine
Lost and enchanted
A moment in time.

A seasoned romantic
With all the right moves
Such charm and such grace
With nothing to lose.

So easy, compliant
Too eager to please
Succumbed to the rapture
I fell to my knees.

A block to your flat
A large spacious room
A bed and a table
A guitar out of tune.

Some paintings unfinished
Hung up on the wall
A bottle of wine
We drank it all.

The sparks and the fire
Ignited, inflamed
Not one to object
I never complained.

Down to the core
Deep down to the bone
A surge of elation
Like I’ve never known.
