A SHORT VACATION

I struggle feeling drained, subdued
No strength or mere vitality
Feeling weak, I can’t move
I wonder what’s become of me.

A cup of coffee hot and strong
Helps to stimulate my heart
Wake up the neurons fast asleep
So they can play their part.

Slowly I can feel a surge
I’m starting to wake up
One cup, not two will suffice
It seems to be enough.

Each day a little harder
A struggle to bounce back
Late night calls and parties
Make it hard to stay on track.

Not getting any younger
Not feeling at my best
More and more I realize
I could use a rest.

Perhaps a short vacation
A cabin in the woods
The quiet of the forest
Maybe I’ll go, I should.
