NOT ENOUGH

Didn’t have the money
Didn’t measure up
Couldn’t make a difference
Didn’t have enough.

Chasing fame and fortune
Knocking on my door
Left before I realized
You wanted so much more.

CD’s , stocks and saving bonds
Took what little that I had
Wanted someone earning more
Someone with much more cash.

Big plans, big dreams to satisfy
The bar was set too high
No matter what, I should’ve known
You’d soon tell me, goodbye.

A country home, weekends away
An apartment in the city
A beach house in the Hamptons
A boat and a Mercedes.

Trips abroad twice a year
A Chalet in Tuscany
Everything you could ever want
With someone else, not me.
