COLD AND CRUEL

Cold and cruel
Vindictive, too
Could it be
I might mean you?

Tried to be
More than a friend
When she showed up
That was the end.

Dropped me the day
That she came back
Had  been away
You both lost track.

Reunited
You reminisced
About the things
That you once did.

But, when your light
Was filled with bugs
You called me up
I came, no grudge.

Came right then
I did my best
Fixed you up
At your request.

No more visits
Stopping in
No more laughs
Or hugs since then.

Coffee drinks
Made for you
Dinners, salads
Desserts, too.

Now I ask
Can you help me?
But, you say β€œno”
So hatefully.

Your anger
Oh so obvious
Guess I was
Oblivious.

What’s with
The animosity?
Why did you start
Resenting me?

Never turned
Away from you
Was your friend
Was loyal and true.

Thought we were
Such good friends
Like family
Right to the end.

But, I was wrong
It’s clear to me
That you don’t care
What I might need.

The feral cats
Now on their own
No kindness now
None to be shown.

Vengeance
A tough pill to swallow
Never thought
You’d be so shallow.

      1. I gathered as much! I just wasn’t sure if this was just poetry or stemmed from a personal situation, but I felt that it likely had its roots in a personal situation, for it was … so real, so heartfelt.

I’m hanging in. 73 years old and I’ve lived a full life, so … my motto is: “Focus on what you can do, not what you can’t; and Mind over matter.”

Yes, MUCH going on in the world of politics! Never a dull moment and I’m working 12 hours a day just trying to keep up with it all, but … it’s what I love. AND … I’m energized and encouraged by Kamala’s candidacy! I think she can beat Trump, but she must beat him by at least 3-4% to also win the Electoral College, so we’ve got our work cut out for us!
