OLD BEFORE MY TIME

Feeling old before my time
Every bone and joint bears witness
One day it’s knees , then feet and toes
A leg cramp or a blister.

Can’t carry more than just five pounds
Have my  groceries home delivered
Up and down a flight of stairs
Just makes me shake and quiver.

Always tired…. exhausted
Time for me to take a nap
Could not go on, had to lay down
Worried I might get too fat.

Bought a yoga mat and free weights
Thought I’d workout on my own
After  one attempt to exercise
Thought that I had broke a bone.

I heard a crack with my first stretch
Couldn’t move or get off the floor
Had to call 911
They came rushing through the door!

Two strong young men …scooped me up
Sat me down upon the sofa
I was fine, once they left
Made myself a pink mimosa.

I’m giving up or giving in
Going to relax and watch TV
Tomorrow is another day
Might try again, we’ll see.
