SAILING THE HUDSON

Sailing down the river
Our day has just begun.
Maneuvering through currents
Navigating every one.

The wind , the sun, the water
The elements abound
The craft, a sturdy vessel
Sails passed each little town.

From Hudson to Poughkeepsie
We travel with full sails
Hoping the wind will blow us by
With gusts that never fail.

A seven day river journey
We set sail at dawn’s daylight
The beauty of the sky above
The sun that shines so bright.

The feel of rope and canvas
The buoy lights at night
The peaceful serene feeling
Underneath the pale moonlight.

A wavering wind propels us
There’s a cool night’s summer breeze
No other place in this whole world
Would I rather be.
