MONEY MATTERS

It was something special
The chemistry felt right
I wanted to be near you
Get close to you that night.

I followed you…. so willingly
No caution lights appeared
Blindly giving into you
You said the coast was clear.

Nothing else could matter
I was bewitched, drawn to your charm
Consumed with being next to you
Being  held tight in you arms.

Feathers, teeth and broken bones
All that was left of me
When you finally  said, “ Goodbye.
You told me to go…. to leave.

Devastated, hurt, confused
Felt a stab right thru my heart
Would not  survive this fatal blow
My world now torn apart.

She was tall, thin and attractive
Her  key, opened your  door
I stood alone across the street
I was replaced, that much was sure.

It was all too good to be true
A hard lesson to be learned
I played with fire until the end
Eventually got burned.

She drove a Maserati
She had a certain style
Had to  be your beneficiary
Wondered if….she’d stay awhile.

Money, class and status
You were always wanting more
Someone who could buy your love
That’s all that you wished for.

“Money talks, nobody walks”
I’ve heard this phrase before
Had no idea you felt this way
Till you showed me the door.
