A WALK TO THE PARK

What’s on the agenda
A walk to the park?
We don’t have much time
It soon will be dark.

The boats on the river
Kayaks coming in
The sun’s going down
This day will soon end.

The leaves on the ground
Fall is upon us
My favorite season
I’ve loved it the longest.

The browns and the yellows
The crimson and rust
An array of patterns
Arranged just for us.

We sit on the bench
The cool Autumn breeze
A strong sense of peace
Comes over me.

My corduroy jacket
Hands in my pocket
The muskrat alone
Is making a racket.

The acorns have fallen
The squirrels scurry about
Stuffing their faces
Acorns in their mouths.

Preparing for winter
Now on its way
No time for kibitzingi
For fun or for play.

A ten minute walk
In the brisk cool night air
Heading back home
We soon will be there.
