AFTERNOON TEA

Candy and cake
Afternoon tea
Why don’t we meet
At quarter past three?

Truffles and mints
A pot of hot tea
An afternoon treat
As good as can be.

Let’s sit by the window
Too cold near the door
The seats are all cushioned
There’s tile on the floor.

Watching the people
Those passing by
Some look , awfully friendly
They wave and say, “Hi!”.

Gentle soft music
“SEND IN THE CLOWNS”
The mood is established
A lovely sweet sound.

A raspberry tart
Some hot apple pie
A pot of Earl Grey
And a cool autumn sky.

So glad we could meet
Let’s do it again
So happy to be
Such very good friends.
