BUMPY RIDE

The landing gear sounded faulty
Wondered when this plane was built
Probably thirty years ago
Need to tighten my seat belt.

Heard a screeching sound below
Had to pray we’d make it home
There was too much turbulence
I wish that I had known.

Budget flight, yes…. now I know
Next time I’ll fly UNITED
Their tickets were expensive
But for sure… I’m going to try it.

No movie shown, no special treats
Just a bag of old stale chips
Offered with a beverage of choice
That’s all that came with it.

The plane was bouncing all around
My soda can was spilling
Hoped that we could make it back
As long as God was willing.

Bumpity bump, the screech of the brakes
Reversing thrust and motion
Thankful we didn’t all end up
At the bottom of the ocean.

So much to be grateful for
I hugged the flight attendant
Thanked the pilot graciously
So glad this flight had ended.
