NO TIME TO WASTE

Everyone is so unhappy
As they watch the nightly news
Hard to believe what’s going on
I don’t know what to do.

There’s chaos  in the city streets
Our country is in turmoil
Trump continues to promote
His brand of lies and snake oil. 

Our neighbors now resent us
Raising tariffs hasn’t helped
Looks like all  we care about
Is nothing but…. ourselves.

I’m holding on to remnants
Pieces frayed, now interspersed
Trying to be mindful
But, things are getting worse. 

Children starving, no relief 
No U.S. aide abroad
When will his base begin to see?
He’s nothing but…. a fraud.

In his fancy suit and tie
Like a king upon a throne
He makes his admonishments 
While we sit here and moan.

Once the envy of all nations
Admired, respected too
Now hated, mocked  and ridiculed 
Thanks to Trump and Elon, too!

Republicans, please step up
Before it is too late 
So much damage has been done 
There is no time to waste.
