In God’s name
We knell and pray
We do our best
For heaven’s sake.
You have to ask
What Jesus would do
In treating others
Different from you.
“Vengeance is mine
Sayeth the Lord”
it’s not up to you
To pick up that sword.
You can’t pick and choose
The scriptures alone
To justify
To cast a stone.
God gave us thought
To use our minds
To be thoughtful
To be kind.
Acceptance and trust
The hallmarks of love
Were handed down
From up above.
No reason to shame
To put someone down
Belittle their words
To call them a “clown”.
Our teachers, our mentors
Wear capes, not tuxedos
They lead and inspire
They are our superheroes.
The man on the pulpit
Can promote and excite
He has the power
The vision, the might.
He can ignite
Denounce and condemn
He has a following
That looks up to him.
But, don’t be too quick
To worship false idylls
Just because of
Their status or title.
Be careful that you
Don’t become too confused
Remember that he
Can influence you.
He has the skill
To lead you astray
Stay true to God
Take a moment to pray.
Control of the masses
A large audience
An impressionable group
Who must use common sense.
The question at hand
Always leads to the truth
Just ask yourself….
What would Jesus do?
