EVIDENCE

Out in the open
Out in the cold
I tried to be honest
Straightforward and bold.

I didn’t hold back
I beared my soul
My cards on the table
A burden, a load.

A secret withheld
I’ve carried this far
The weight of the world
In the trunk of my car.

A box filled with photos
That no one should see
The trinkets, the treasures
Belonging to me.

Can I let them go?
Set them a blaze?
Evidence of
My old foolish ways.

So much remorse
So many mistakes
Time to let go
Before, it’s too late.
