GETTING OLD

Bones and joints
Pulls and tears
Getting old
Just isn’t fair.

On the floor
I can’t get up
Pure desire
Is not enough.

Need a pulley
Need a crane
A major boost
It’s such a shame.

Repeat that, please
It wasn’t clear
My sight is failing
And, I can’t hear.

Hands are shaking
Body’s weak
Things have gotten
Hard for me.

My memory’s fading
I’m in a fog
Praying to
Almighty God.

Help me make it
Through the night
Another day
To see daylight.

In the garden
I feel my best
My favorite place
Of joy and rest.
