MY ANGEL

Out of the mouth of babes
The stark and naked truth
No pretense, masks or veils
Her advantage is her youth.

Untainted, pure and innocent
Unmarred by greed or shame
You wish you had her outlook
You wish you felt the same.

Her gentle mannerisms
Her voice so kind and sweet
She asks how you are feeling
“Is there anything you need?”

She walks among the angels
The fairies and the gnomes
Barefoot through the meadow
Not afraid to be alone.

She takes your hand so gently
She wants you to be safe
Her kindness and her empathy
Can always make your day.

She can lift your spirits
Make you smile when you are sad
When you know she’s coming over
You are happy, you are glad.

At times,  you feel invisible
Not when she is around
She likes to look at photographs
Of you …. in your wedding gown.

Everything about you
Sparks her interest, she’s curious
She wants to get to know you
So sincere, so serious.

You offer her a sandwich
Hoping she will stay for lunch
The two of you chat and carry on
Eating pickles, drinking punch.

She’s a darling, such a sweetheart
So enchanting, a delight
Such a pleasure being with her
She turns darkness into light.
