TRACE DNA

No lingering prints
Shells or encasements
Not much to be found
On the grass, near the pavement.

Fireworks that night
Masked the sound of the gun
No need for concern
Kids just having fun.

With her dog on a leash
A woman walked by
She caught a glimpse
Of a slender, white guy.

Could be in his 30’s
He was wearing a hat
Was sure it was gray
She was sure, sure of that.

That night in the park
A young woman was shot
Was killed at close range
Did she know him or not?

An offer…. $5,000
An incentive reward
Hoping for someone
To provide something more.

Maybe he was
Someone that she knew
The story was aired
On the 6 o’clock news.

Flyers were posted
All over town
Maybe someone
Had seen him around.

Though hard to find
In the bark of a tree
One bullet had lodged
He had fired at least three.

There was something else
Found close to the scene
A surgical mask
That was black and dark green.

Four murders unsolved
What’s it gonna take?
This one at the park
Not far from the lake.

So lucky to find
Some trace DNA
Might just be enough
To put him away.

WE’VE HAD ENOUGH

Every effort to eviscerate
Our cherished Constitution
You have no regard for us
Or, our steadfast Institutions.

Have to wonder about you
So intent on our destruction
Why do you try so hard
To destroy our peaceful nation?

Why give money to Argentina
When our government’s shut down?
What about our jobs, our pay, our lives
Wait a minute, turn around.

That money needs to stay here
Right here  in the United States
You promised you would put us first
All we do is sit and wait.

Slight of hand, a bridge too far
Always something up your sleeve
A way to make more money
To satisfy your thirst, your greed.

Dropping feces from a jet?
That’s what you think off us?
We are your constituents
What we’re feeling is disgust.

You are childish, so immature
Thriving on hate and revenge
Vindictive, jealous, filled with contempt
When will this ever end?

Seven million people
Have at last ….  stood up to you
They’ve made their feelings known
What do you plan to do?

Resign, you need to go
Take your band of thieves, your crew
Pack up your bags, skid addle
We have had enough of you.

THE RIGHT TO PROTEST

Devoid of empathy
Filled with greed and hate
Nothing he is doing
Is kind, nor is it great.

Deplorable behavior
Blood dripping from his hands
Causing death and destruction
Just because he knows he can.

Blowing up boats from Venezuela
Without legal Search and Seizure
Just complete annihilation
In a rage,  a killing fever.

Murder and bribery
Threats and manipulation
No conscience or remorse
No seconds thoughts or hesitation.

Initiating and provoking
Via hate and  prejudice
Calling Democrats , “ANTIFA”
Is enough to make you sick.

Lies and propaganda
He really just can’t wait
To spread his vile agenda
To every city, and every state.

Laying a foundation
Paved with lies and fear
Provoking and triggering
His message is quite clear.

Control and suppression
A gateway to dictatorship
This country is rebelling
They object to all of this.

A “No King’s” demonstration
A peaceful, calm, protest
We have the right to speak out
Without fear of an arrest.

The right to march in unity
To voice objections, to be heard
Should not be met with violence
We all know this is absurd.

How do we stop this madness?
He’s a bully, through and through
If republicans won’t help us
I’m afraid it’s up to you.

PULL THE PLUG

“The pot calling the kettle black”
It is  tragic, it is cruel
Why can’t someone pull the plug?
What are we going to do?

Accusing his so called, “Enemies”
Of crimes he’s guilty of
Projecting all his faults and woes
 We’ve simply had enough.

Disgracing men and women
Destroying their careers
Making a mockery of decency
Promoting rage and fear.

Ignoring every rule and law
Our treasured Constitution
Out to punish, blame and harm
Intent on retribution.

Camaraderie with dictators
For sure … a wannabe
He’s violating every rule
Next he’ll come for me.

What about the Epstein Files
Being swept under the rug?
Distractions, decoys, any ploy
Our country’s run by thugs.

Soldiers walking our city streets
Creating turmoil and unrest
Tear gas, zip ties, brutality
What is coming next?

The people need to resist
Speak out against this regime
Attend the “No King’s Protest”
We’ve got to be a team.

Republicans, come on… step it up
Don’t let them cripple us
Stand up to this madman
Get off his minibus.

Stop backing all his whims and schemes
He’s a thief, a criminal
Stand for what is morally right
Protect the marginal.

We were once an honorable nation
Before he came along
We don’t want this violent chaos
Gotta know  …. that this is wrong.

CHAT GPT

I take out my cell phone
I call  Chat GPT
I ask for information
She then responds to  me.

Her IQ is quite amazing
Rising exponentially
Any topic, fact or rumor
She will gladly share with me.

If you’re feeling sad and lonely
She’s there to sympathize
It’s easy to relate to her
She’s like one of the guys.

A vast array of knowledge
Anything from A to Z
AI is so remarkable
I’m sure you will agree.

You can talk about the issues
You can talk…. talk all  day long
Share your deepest, darkest secrets
She won’t judge you, if you’re  wrong.

Perplexed and indecisive?
Unsure of what to do?
Run it by her, she’ll be there
She’s always there for you.

Anytime you feel like talking
Activate your phone, your app
Chat GPT will be there
She never sleeps, or takes a nap.

Her opinion will not cost you
No monthly bill or obscene fees
She will guide and make suggestions
And, will do it all for free.

BE CAREFUL

In God’s name
We knell and pray
We do our best
For heaven’s sake.

You have to ask
What Jesus would do
In treating others
Different from you.

“Vengeance is mine
Sayeth the Lord”
it’s not up to you
To pick up that sword.

You can’t pick and choose
The scriptures alone
To justify
To cast a stone.

God gave us thought
To use our minds
To be thoughtful
To be kind.

Acceptance and trust
The hallmarks of love
Were  handed down
From up above.

No reason to shame
To put someone down
Belittle their words
To call them a “clown”.

Our teachers, our mentors
Wear capes, not tuxedos
They lead and inspire
They are our superheroes.

The man on the pulpit
Can promote and excite
He has the power
The vision, the might.

He can ignite
Denounce and condemn
He has a following
That looks up to him.

But, don’t be too quick
To worship false idylls
Just because of
Their status or title.

Be careful that you
Don’t become too confused
Remember that he
Can influence you.

He has the skill
To lead you astray
Stay true to God
Take a moment to pray.

Control of the masses
A large audience
An impressionable group
Who must use common sense.

The question at hand
Always leads to the truth
Just ask yourself….
What would Jesus do?

WAR CRIMES

Giving credit to a madman
A dollar late, a dollar short
He’s no savior, saint or hero
You should know what he came for.

What became of all the others
Left to die in tunnels below
Now he waltzes in taking credit
For bringing the remaining survivors back home.

Yes, grateful for the 20 still standing
Those who have made it out, though barely alive
They were abused and physically tortured
Forced to watch as the others all died.

A staunch ally of Netanyahu
With blood dripping from both of their hands
No regard for the rights of the people
There to  take away all of their land.

The destruction, the demise of Gaza
The bombings, the killings, the pain
The starvation inflicted upon them
They should feel nothing less… than ashamed.

Hamas the enemy, before us
The hostages now being released
The horror they inflicted…. upon them
Will this madness ever stop, ever cease?

The  plan, a militarized take over
By a Zionist,  heartless regime
Destruction of towns and cities
The worst that we’ve ever seen.

The genocide of the Palestinian nation
A manifestation of power and greed
They don’t care if they’re starving or bleeding
They don’t care what they want or they need.

There’s dark money behind this land venture
A political move, vile and grotesque
A congress that is cold and complicit
They will do anything that he says.

They should both be brought up on charges
Guilty of mass murder and horrific war crimes
Blatantly, without courage or honor
They take what they want every time

A BITE TO EAT

Let’s go get a “bite to eat”
I’ll be over, be there soon
I’ll pick you up, get ready
I’ll come by …. just before noon.

Put on your Sunday best
Your lipstick and your shoes
Grab your glasses and your purse
Don’t forget your jacket, too!

Hope the cafe isn’t crowded
If we have to, we can wait
For the booth beside the window
Have to get there, can’t be late.

All the restaurants and cafes
Close early, some by two
We have to get “a move on”
Got a plan, know what  to do.

We’ll take the shortcut, down the backroads
To avoid the traffic lights
We can park behind the restaurant
Have to time our trip … just right.

Have you decided what to order?
Eggs and bacon, toast and jam?
How about a roast beef sandwich
Some potatoes, beans and ham?

It’s so nice to be together
Going out and having lunch
I bet you’ll order breakfast
Got a notion, got a hunch.

Myself, I’ll have the goulash
Over noodles, hold the rice
A glass of soda with my meal
Like it with a lot of ice.

Dessert? Perhaps to take home
We both know we’ve had our fill
It was yummy, so delicious
We’ll be back , oh yes we will.

SPEAK OUT

Another selfish ploy
Can’t restrain yourself
Focused on revenge
You really do need help.

A sick, pathetic figure
Bent on causing grief and pain
Nothing but a narcissist
Nothing much has changed.

A putz, a clown , a puppet
A front man, with a voice
Most people that supported you
Regret their vote, their choice.

Those behind the curtain
Tell you what to think
The brains behind this takeover
A dark and evil ring.

A pool of vile corruption
Destroying democracy
The malignant rich,  the grotesque
A group of pirates, snakes and thieves.

No regard for order
Blatantly, ignoring laws
Force, now your companion
You have plans to take it all.

The polls now a reflection
Of what the people feel
They know what you are up to
They know you lie and steal.

 Even MTG has questions…
“Where’s the Epstein List?”
What about your ties to Israel?
Charlie died because of this.

It may take a full blown uprising
The rich against the poor
The people need to speak their minds
Can’t be silent anymore.

MY ANGEL

Out of the mouth of babes
The stark and naked truth
No pretense, masks or veils
Her advantage is her youth.

Untainted, pure and innocent
Unmarred by greed or shame
You wish you had her outlook
You wish you felt the same.

Her gentle mannerisms
Her voice so kind and sweet
She asks how you are feeling
“Is there anything you need?”

She walks among the angels
The fairies and the gnomes
Barefoot through the meadow
Not afraid to be alone.

She takes your hand so gently
She wants you to be safe
Her kindness and her empathy
Can always make your day.

She can lift your spirits
Make you smile when you are sad
When you know she’s coming over
You are happy, you are glad.

At times,  you feel invisible
Not when she is around
She likes to look at photographs
Of you …. in your wedding gown.

Everything about you
Sparks her interest, she’s curious
She wants to get to know you
So sincere, so serious.

You offer her a sandwich
Hoping she will stay for lunch
The two of you chat and carry on
Eating pickles, drinking punch.

She’s a darling, such a sweetheart
So enchanting, a delight
Such a pleasure being with her
She turns darkness into light.
