EVIL TO THE CORE

All you know is how to swindle
You are all about the grift
Thinking you can threaten China
With your stinking, lying wit.

I’m afraid that you don’t get it
China knows you can’t be trusted
You can’t force, cajole or bullshit
You’ve been outed, you are busted.

Beyond your depth, now in the big league
Your small time  gangster moves  won’t work
Other countries don’t respect you
They all know that you’re a jerk.

You have no respect or credibility
Your strong arm tactics only enrage
You’re  no skilled negotiator
Don’t belong on the world stage.

While you’re busy playing checkers
Your opponents have mastered chess
All your talk of trade and tariffs
Has created a big mess.

You’ve managed a takeover
With no idea what you should do
While the people in our country
Have no respect for you.

The polls reflect your popularity
More than half think …. you’re a fool
They now know you are a psychopath
You have shown them you are cruel.

Your disregard of the Constitution
Your blatant disrespect
You’re  creating a lawless nation
And, put us further into debt.

Your heartless treatment of immigration
Sending innocent men to El Salvador
Has shown us your true colors
You are evil to the core.

It’s now up to the house republicans
Grow a spine or pair of balls
Time to confront the reigning monster
At this point, it is their call.

I DO MY BEST

I do my best to make you happy
Wash the dishes, keep things clean
But nothing really matters
Cause you’re miserable, and mean.

I make you breakfast, make you coffee
Make your favorite… grits  and eggs
Then I slip into the bathroom
Cause I’ve got to shave my legs.

Try to start a conversation
But,  you’re so angry all the time
Nothing I want ever matters
You don’t care what’s on my mind.

Always selfish, never grateful
You don’t care how I might feel
If I tell you that I’m hurting
Your response, “that’s no big deal”.

All you want is to watch TV
Take a nap, sleep in your chair
Watch your favorite TV programs
You hardly notice that I’m there.

I make you wings, chili and hotdogs
I keep your beer and glass both chilled
I put out chips, meatballs and sausage
I cook you burgers on the grill.

You never tell me that you love me
You never try and  hold my hand
It’s impossible to reach you
To try and make you understand.

I do my best to make you happy
Wash the dishes, keep things clean
But, you’re never really satisfied
Why are you so damn mean?

UNDERWATER

What’s it going to take for you
To realize the truth?
I no longer want to be
Don’t wanna be with you.

I moved on, I could’t wait
No possible solution
Inside the box, linear
You simply have no vision.

Pounded by the wind, the waves
Battered by the current
Was under water way  too long
Though you say that we weren’t.

Nothing new or innovative
Another Ground Hog Day
Not amused or entertained
Intrigued or blown away.

Struggled with the guilt, the blame
One day I just stopped trying
Packed my bags, pulled the plug
Tired of all your selfish whining.

Free to be myself again
Tired of watching you get high
Left a note that simply read
Adios, Au Revoir, Goodbye.

Now living on a sandy beach
In the Mediterranean
So glad I had the strength to go
To get away from him.

HAPPY HOUR

Always so much pressure
I just want to take a nap
Feeling tired and weary
I just want to pet my cat.

Put my head upon the pillow
Close my eyes, catch forty winks
Wake up refreshed, revitalized
Go out and have a drink.

The cafe around the corner
Has Happy Hour, starts at 3
So if you’re feeling up to it
Why don’t you come with me?

They have entertainment
A woman on guitar
Get yourself together
Drinks are half price at the bar.

How about a Margherita
A Martini or some wine?
Don’t need to wear your Sunday best
Truth is.… you look just fine.

We’ll be back in time for “Jeopardy”
And, “Dancing with The Stars”
It’s only round the block a ways
It isn’t very far.

MY QUEST

There’s a method to my madness
Something I just have to do
A long awaited wish or dream
At last is coming true.

I can feel it in my heart
The pounding in my chest
Pushing through all obstacles
So little time to rest.

I can shout it from the rooftops
Post a notice, place an ad
I’ve got the urge to follow thru
A dream that I have had.

My confidence, my self esteem
Has been revitalized
I have been awakened, see the light
I’m no longer paralyzed.

It’s  become my quest, my goal
Something I just have to do
Have to face my inhibitions
Address my worth, express my truth.

Incentivized, ignited
A mere spark, now set ablaze
Amidst the ash and embers
I’ve been rescued, I’ve been saved.

SOULMATE

You’re the answer to my madness
The long awaited cure
The moment that I met you
I was certain, I was sure.

The connection felt between us
Was magical, felt right
I wasn’t feeling anxious
Agitated or uptight.

You were so easy going
Always thoughtful, always kind
Got along with everyone
Made the effort, every time.

Not clingy or demanding
Can be close or distant, too
Respects my independence
And, a different point of view.

Likes movies on the big screen
Popcorn, and coke for two
Buys your favorite candy
Always thinking about you.

Has her friends and her own hobbies
Likes to spend time on her own
There’s no pressure or avoidance
Always answers her cell phone.

I’d say I found my soulmate
She is at best …. unique
So glad we have each other
So glad she’s here with me.

CRUELTY

Can’t believe the depth of evil
Circulating through his veins
It’s frightening to think about
I think he is insane.

I watch the clips, the videos
Men kidnapped everyday
I am horrified by what he’s done
He’s taken them away.

No money  appropriated
To send immigrants to El Salvador
He’s paying millions to Bukele
And, plans to send him more.

No phone calls, and no emails
They can’t see the light of day
They are tortured, and yes….brutalized
In so many, awful ways.

No Habeus Corpus, or fair play
The work of a psychopath
Has no compassion for the weak
Just watch him, watch him laugh.

Refusal of an order
Sent to the highest Court
Told to turn those planes around
They should have  ….  from the start.

The cruelty, the hatred
Astounds and horrifies
I wouldn’t put it passed him… no
To have them crucified.

He has no use for immigrants
But, what about his wife?
He sent those men to prison
No due process, there for life.

VENGEANCE

Vengeance is mine…. sayeth Trump
How dare he seek retribution?
If he could.…. believe you me
He’d alter evolution.

No guilt, no shame, no empathy
A total psychopath
Loves to hurt, inflict pain
Engaged in theft and graft.

Resenting academia
Attempting to control
Demanding full subservience
He has no heart or soul.

Trying hard to dictate
The school’s curriculum
If they don’t capitulate
He vows to destroy them.

A bully  …..  plain and simple
Was a failure throughout school
Hell-bent on hurting others
So jealous and spiteful.

The devil’s in the White House
Satan’s at the helm
God please save our nation
We are totally overwhelmed.

HOMEGROWNS

We need to leave the country
Dark money has control
The devil’s in the house
And, he’s coming for your soul.

No regard for law and order
Disregard for what is right
Ignoring court decisions
Best we leave before daylight.

Better hurry, before they stop us
Could be sent to El Salvador
He’s threatening US citizens
Better head for foreign shores.

He’s referencing us as, “Homegrowns”
Threatens to put us on a flight
The worst of prisons known to man
He’d send us there for life.

Our savings soon depleted
About to lose our benefits
Being governed by a dictator
Who doesn’t give a shit?

Billionaires, now the ruling class
No concern for our heath care
Soon they’ll be a curfew
Next, he’ll tell us what to wear.

Organize your documents
Be prepared to leave your home
Can’t imagine what is coming next
Banning iPads and cell phones?

We can try to seek asylum
Apply for citizenship
So much for love of country
He’s taken control of it.

All the talk by politicians
On the TV.… cable news
They have no plan to stop him
They don’t even have a clue.

Pack your bags, I’ve got our tickets
Can’t believe we have to go
But, things are getting worse each day
Even worse than we could know.

CAREFREE

It took so long
To stop feeling the pain
The guilt and remorse
A blemish, a stain.

I don’t want to know
Don’t need to recall
I must have  tripped
Before, hitting the wall.

Lighter, carefree
No burden or baggage
No longer encumbered
With insults or daggers.

I now hear the music
Every note, every chord
I’ve put down my shield
My knife and my sword.

No longer the need
To wonder, to hope
No need to adjust
To learn how to cope.

Free of the memories
The torment, the rage
The longing, the cravings
I felt everyday.

The warmth of the sun
A soft summer breeze
Are all  that I want
Are all that I need.
