Down below the surface
Very close to the gulf stream
I found myself immersed
In what appeared to be a dream.
The spectacle of colors
The creatures large and small
The sea grass and the coral reef
A haven to them all.
In time….my ears were ringing
I felt a pain within my chest
Not sure if I could surface
Should I shed my weighted vest?
The change in water pressure
Suddenly effected me
I knew I had to head back up
And, do it carefully.
My tank nearly empty
I would have to hold my breath
Was I going to make it?
Could I make it from this depth?
There upon the surface
I could see the bright sunshine
Reflecting on the water
I held on tight to my life line.
Moments between life and death, beautifully captured underwater!

What a wonderful experience so well captured. I wish I could press the like button for so many of your poems, but it doesn’t seem to work for Apple!
