THE WOODLANDS

The magical green woodlands
Home of unicorns and gnomes
A resting perch for fairies
Who call the forest home.

The gargoyles guard the entrance
Protecting one and all
The monkeys and the dragons
The tall ones and the small.

The fire flies and creepy crawlers
The caterpillars and the frogs
Live inside the tree trunks
Deep within the hollow logs.

Up above, high in the branches
Sits the owl and feathered friends
They sit and chirp the day away
From beginning to the end.

Some cover up their faces
Blinded by the moon’s soft light
Others wide eyed and bushy tailed
Bask in the bright sun light.

The moss blanketing the meadow
As soft as cotton fleece
All of the creatures gather there
When it’s time to fall asleep.

They snuggle and they cuddle
They keep each other warm
The ones with claws and pointy fangs
Protect them all from harm.
