A SCARY STORM

The crackling thunder
The lightning streaks
My dog comes a running
She’s afraid, starts to freak.

I hold her, I rock her
Try to calm the girl down
She clearly is scared
She’s afraid of the sounds.

The rain on the roof top
The wind howls and it wails
Scaring my puppy
No wagging her tail.

Shaking and fearful
She can’t understand
I try to assure her
Do the best that I can.

When the storm passes
We step out in the yard
The grass is now wet
My dog still is on guard.

Glad that it’s over
Now happy and free
She sits in the yard
There under the tree.
