SHARKS

Stranded and isolated
Separate from everyone else
Feeling I am better off
No longer need your help.

Paddling faster than anyone
But lagging so far behind
Allowing the weak to move ahead
But, afraid I’ll run out of time.

Tired of the gossip and chatter
The languishing looks and remarks
Tired of excuses and pretenses
This water’s infested with sharks.

Waiting my turn, holding the line
Hasn’t made any difference to me
I’m still being battered, I’m black and I’m blue
It’s time to let go and be free.
