LANDMINE

Walking through a landmine
Is how I feel…. each time
Each time I’m talking to you
Wish I could change your mind.

Trying to get through to you
But, you make so little sense
You close your eyes, you close your mind
You’ve built a weak defense.

From down below the rabbit hole
You’ve managed to emerge
Clothed in broad delusions
Of theories you have heard.

I’m looking for a reason
To convince me I should stay
But your beliefs and reasons
Are scaring me away.

The grievous accusations
Swirling in your mind
The lies, the machinations
The truth gets left behind.

The line’s been drawn in earnest
You’ve opted to take sides
You stand behind the scolds and thieves
Their fear and menacing lies.

Denouncing honest virtue
Such rage you feel inside
Makes me feel such sorrow
Makes me want to cry.
