DREAMS

You’ve been trying
For  too long
You try your best
But something’s wrong.

Time’s slipping by
You need a change
So  quit that job
Then start again.

Behind the counter
Far from view
For way too long
Who could see you?

New faces … places
A new routine
A brand new future
You should be seeing.

New friends …. adventures
Waiting for you
Your hopes … your dreams
Should all come true.

Reach in your pocket

Check that lotto

Cash in those chips

They’re waiting for ya.

Come out of hiding

Stop your whining

Get off your butt

Get up … start trying.

Who cares about

All the excuses?

All the hot chicks

Are on the cruises.

You sit at home

Play videos

Put down that phone

Get up and go.

    1. Thank you, Felicia! This poem was written about my niece. She has been working at the same job for many years and apparently feeling unappreciated. She found the courage to walk away and has begun a new journey. She inspired me to write this poem. 💙
