You’ve been trying so hard
It’s been too long
You go through the motions
But something is wrong.
Deep in your heart
There’s an aching inside
A void to be filled
That’s making you cry.
You push and you pull
You stay the course
But you’re tired of that feeling
So down ….. and so bored.
Who’s there for you
When you come home at night?
Who’s there to hold you?
Who turns off the light?
Time’s slipping by
You need a change
So quit that job
Start over again.
Behind the counter
Hidden from view
For far too long
Who could see you?
New faces … new places
A brand new routine
A brand new future
You deserve to be seen.
New friends …. and adventures
Are waiting for you
Your hopes and your dreams
Are about to come true.

Thank you, Felicia! This poem was written about my niece. She has been working at the same job for many years and apparently feeling unappreciated. She found the courage to walk away and has begun a new journey. She inspired me to write this poem. 💙
