It started as a dusting
Now a blanket on the ground
Quietly out of the sky
It fell without a sound.
The twinkling, the glimmering
Each flake unlike the others
Perfectly, intentionally
They fell upon another.
The crisp night air upon my face
So refreshing, invigorating
The crunch I felt beneath my boots
Amusingly stimulating.
One foot high , maybe two
Exceeding the forecast
We’re off to meet the challenge now
I knew we’d have a blast!
Agreed to meet at 12 a.m.
A midnight rendezvous
The night was still, the wind died down
We brought our inner tubes.
Up the hill, we made our way
The moon a natural light
A running start, then off we go
Our tubes would soon take flight.
The chill , the thrill … just can’ t compare
Was a night we won’t forget.
We headed home at 2 a.m.
With cheeks …. a rosy red.

Love the poem!!! You guys got way more than we did … we got maybe 1/2 inch, and it melted before noon. The ‘tubing’ sounds like great fun … did that a few times in my younger days! Keep warm & safe, dear friend!
