Don’t read into everything
What I write I may not feel
I glorify, I fantasize
Not all of it is even real.
Though written in first person
Not always referencing myself
Don’t surmise, or theorize
My thoughts of someone else.
Troubles of a friend or foe
Make their way upon the lines
Often bits and pieces
Find their way into my mind.
Don’t take to heart my choice of words
Don’t think that I mean you
What I write or reference to
May be false, not always true.
Venting is an outlet
Sometimes I blow off steam
More than not …. what I recall
Is but, a portion of a dream.
So don’t take it all so personally
Learn to read between the lines
It’s art …. an observation
Of others lives, as well as mine.

Oh, I know just what you mean, Patty! People think that because you write about something (whether it’s a poem, a novel, or….) it’s autobiographical. For me, anyway, it’s often not.

I knew that Richardson with the 5 blue hearts could bring it!
Standing up for what I believe, I’d like to hear her sing it.
I pondered her thru the night. Until more blue hearts became dawn’s light.

I do this too. I take inspiration from my surroundings and often use first person point of view.
