I DO MY BEST

I do my best to make you happy
Wash the dishes, keep things clean
But nothing really matters
Cause you’re miserable, and mean.

I make you breakfast, make you coffee
Make your favorite… grits  and eggs
Then I slip into the bathroom
Cause I’ve got to shave my legs.

Try to start a conversation
But,  you’re so angry all the time
Nothing I want ever matters
You don’t care what’s on my mind.

Always selfish, never grateful
You don’t care how I might feel
If I tell you that I’m hurting
Your response, “that’s no big deal”.

All you want is to watch TV
Take a nap, sleep in your chair
Watch your favorite TV programs
You hardly notice that I’m there.

I make you wings, chili and hotdogs
I keep your beer and glass both chilled
I put out chips, meatballs and sausage
I cook you burgers on the grill.

You never tell me that you love me
You never try and  hold my hand
It’s impossible to reach you
To try and make you understand.

I do my best to make you happy
Wash the dishes, keep things clean
But, you’re never really satisfied
Why are you so damn mean?
