FLOWERS AND  STRIPES

So different, so strange
Our views and opinions
Our wants and desires
Our steadfast positions.

The same and yet different
We meet in the middle
A puzzle is solved
A remarkable riddle.

You prefer flowers
I prefer stripes
You reach for the scissors
I look for a knife.

You thrive in the  daylight
I recharge at night
We both create shadows
Beneath the moonlight.

You rise with the sun
I sleep until noon
You’re out and about
I’m in my cocoon.

Spicy and hot?
No, salty and sweet
You order seafood
My preference is meat.

Hard to believe
Like two birds of a feather
We’ll always be
Right here together.
