OFF COURSE

Too many drinks
My first mistake
 I wasn’t thinking
Not  thinking straight.

Took off my clothes
I let her in
We had just met
Weren’t even friends.

The heat of desire
It was all  chemistry
Nothing else mattered
Just her next to me.

Love at first sight
Our bodies co-mingled
Hard to adjust
To not being single.

Sex in the morning
All through the night
Making excuses
Convinced this was right.

Candlelight dinners
Romantic date nights
Up until midnight
High as a kite.

Work in the morning
Hard to get up
Needing a shower
This wasn’t enough.

Privacy suffered
I needed  a break
Up for promotion
A lot was at stake.

Distracted, off course
Things got too complex
I was driven by lust
I became too obsessed.

Time to let go
I broke it off
Just told her I needed
More time to play golf.
