NEVER TRULY MINE

Hard looking back, hard to move on
Facing the truth, that you are gone
You walked away, it wasn’t fair
So clear to me, you didn’t care.

Never dreamt  I’d be betrayed
There’s nothing left, nothing to say
Packed a bag, you took a cab
I felt so hurt, I felt so bad.

Empty rooms, empty drawers
No explanation, nothing more
By myself, nothing left
So hard for me …. to just forget.

You met someone, somebody new
Now I’m alone, lost without you
You let her in, unlocked the door
She had it all and so much more.

I was erased, nothing remains
Simply regret, and so much pain
No evidence, no tell-tale signs
That you were ever, truly mine.
