BUSY BEE

I can’t sit still….. I’m busy
I’ve got so much to do
I have dolls that need attention
Lots of toys, and crayons, too.

When you say … it’s time for dinner
You know … I can’t help myself
We both  know I’m not hungry
Don’t you know it, can’t you tell?

When I’m sitting at the table
I begin to look around
Talk about the bugs I’ve noticed
Or my golden, princess crown.

Ten minutes sitting in my chair
Is so hard for me to do
I need to move, I want to run
I want to play with you.

I don’t like mashed potatoes
Or anything that’s green
I’ll eat some chicken nuggets
Macaroni and grilled cheese.

But,  broccoli and spinach
Brussels sprouts or lima beans
Will never be my favorites
I prefer … to have ice cream.

My mind is filled with melodies
I hear music all the time
I have a different drummer
That I follow, he is mine.

I rarely walk, I like to skip
I love to spin around
My favorite is to play outside
On the slide at the playground.

My friends live in the neighborhood
When they knock on our door
I’m ready to go out and play
Even though …. I’m only four.

You say …. let’s watch a movie
Come and sit, sit next to me
But, I am so distracted
Like a busy bumble bee.

My bones  and all my muscles
Are growing all the time
That’s why I am in motion
I thrive  in the sunshine.

I fiddle and I wiggle
I laugh and talk too much
I scream when I’m excited
I am always in a rush.

So be patient when I’m fussy
Please try and understand
I’m just a child of wonder
In a world made out of sand.
