SEEKING SHELTER

The glistening leaves
Rain falls from above
The birds seeking shelter
The sparrows, the doves.

High on the chimney
The crow sits alone
All of his friends
Sadly  are gone.

Up in the sky
Heading due south
The birds in formation
Are up and about.

Searching for food
They fly altogether
Leaving the cold
For much better weather.

Bluebirds and magpies
Red breasted robins
Woodpeckers, orioles
If you look …. you can spot em.

They’re on a mission
Their journey is long
Hurry, catch a glimpse
Before they are gone.

A chirp and a tweet
A whistle, a screech
There to be found
At the park or the beach.

Don’t be in a rush
Be quiet, be still
For one might just might perch
On your own window sill.
