OUT OF THE BOX

This life has now caught up with me
Not at all what I had planned
Nowhere to run, nowhere to go
I just don’t understand. 

The elders I admired have gone
There’s no one making sense 
My goals were met, but in the end
I’m forced to climb the fence. 

Time passes by, clocks move ahead
I’m so dissatisfied
I was sold a bill of goods
My heros all told lies. 

“Acquire an education
Work  hard and do your best
You’ll have the life you waited for
Given  more than most, not less”. 

Upside down, turned inside out
A liar through and through
A psychopath, a wanna be 
Does what he wants to do. 

Forced to leave the country
Our government ….corrupt
An honest day’s work, hopes  and dreams 
Are simply not enough. 

Never thought that this would happen
I was innocent, naive
He tricked the entire nation
And he will never, ever leave. 

Here to stay,  out of the box
The genie can’t be contained 
We let him in, he’s found his way
Things will never be the same. 

Assisted end…. to the life I’ve known
Has a certain draw, a ring
Don’t want to be party to what he is
He’s controlling everything. 

All that I believed in
Now uprooted and replaced
Honor, justice, character 
Have  simply been erased.

  2. I hear you, my friend, for I feel much the same. But then, I talk to myself and remind myself that if we all give up, who will fight for the next generations, for life on Planet Earth. The Felon will be gone soon, but the rebuilding is up to us, those of us who care about life more than about money. Stay in the game, my friend … we need you. Excellent poem, by the way! 💖

      1. I sometimes doubt there will be many more future generations, but if we stop hoping, stop trying, then we lose before we even try! Some days, though, it’s hard to hang on to that hope! Love and BIG hugs to you too, my dear friend! ❤️
