BIGGER THAN LIFE

The dreadful awaited passing
So hard to say, Goodbye
So many reasons I will miss you
I sit here and ask God, “why?”.

Orphaned in my sixties
At a time I need you most
Someone I could turn to
Why I moved out to the coast.

As your son, I still believe
I could never fill your shoes
But still in awe, I aspire to be
Someone admired, like you.

Bigger than life, a father
With such a varied past
So many interesting stories
So many made me laugh.

A wealth of truths and history
All the memories you conveyed
Told from your lips and through your eyes
But now, you’ve gone away.

All your quirks and idiosyncrasies
Will be referenced…. to be sure
When I’m down, I will remember
They say that laughter is a cure.

Lucky to be with you
Right up to the end
To tell you that I love you
My father, my best friend.
