SPENDING TIME WITH YOU

Things aren’t the same, I feel it
Notice you don’t come around
But, know that you like shopping
And, like coming into town.

Heard you told your sister
About the things you found on sale
But, you never stop to see me
You don’t want to, I can tell.

Was it something that I said
Did I rub you the wrong way?
Thought that we were such good friends
But, now I feel  betrayed.

Wishing you’d  come over
I’d make us a pot of tea
Would love to know what’s going on
Please don’t abandon me.

Would make some carrot muffins
With your favorite icing, too
We could sit and chat a bit
Love spending time with you.

OUR COUNTRY

Don’t want to go
But, fear I must
Pack my bags
I’m in a rush.

Everything’s
Turned upside down
Our country now
Is run by clowns.

Rights are severed
We’re not safe
Things are bad
Will leave today.

Passport ready
Funds in place
Once I’m gone
Won’t leave a trace.

Not one to quit
To give it up
But, I have had
I’ve had enough.

No PBS,
No  NPR
The media’s|
Been crushed and scarred.

Women’s rights
Don’t exist
Diversity
A mere blacklist.

Government
Now overtaken
Justice ended
It’s forsaken.

The best is gone
Our USA
Who knew that things
Would end this way.

A GOOD LIFE

When God calls, we’ll be protected
Even if….it’s unexpected
He has a plan …. though unaware
Not ours to question, if it’s fair.

Could be sudden, perhaps an illness
Whatever fate , we’ll seek forgiveness
Some quite old, some  very young
Some will be sad, the day is done.

When it’s time, he’ll call us home
May send an angel, won’t be alone
We’ll know such jubilation
We’ll rejoice…. we’re his creation.

A short walk through heaven’s gate
A note of thanks for this our fate
A promise kept  for a good life
For trying hard to do what’s  right.

A kind word, a thoughtful gesture
A halt of anger,  before it festers
A word of hope …. for the downtrodden
Those acts of kindness, are not forgotten.

DON’T BE FOOLED

She comes on strong
She likes to flirt
Don’t mess with her
Or you’ll get hurt.

She’s not so nice
Don’t get too close
Put up your shield
Put on your cloak.

A pretty face
She’ll pull you in
Don’t be fooled
She’s not your friend.

Toxic, poison
She’ll cast a spell
Take you with her
Straight to hell.

Pointed tail
Hidden horns
That rose she has
Is filled with thorns.

There’s other fish
Out in the sea
She’s not for you
Listen to me.

A sip of wine
A glass or two
She has a plan
She’s come for you.

Don’t be tricked
Don’t be fooled
Don’t follow her
Don’t get confused.

She is Satan
In disguise
Don’t fall for her
She’ll make you cry.

ALL ALONE

Everyone’s afraid of you

Always smirking , tripping blue

All the nasty snide remarks

No one wants to swim with sharks!

———

Stop complaining, taking shots

Thinking you are …..oh, so hot

Friday nights you’re sitting home

Wonder why you’re all alone?

———

Thinking you can roll your eyes

Shrug your shoulders ….. diss and sigh

But, people want to run from you

Bid farewell and say, adieu.

——-

What will it take to make you see

Don’t you want some company?

Good to have a close best friend

Someone to hang with …. now and then.

———

So offensive, crude and rude

You need to change your attitude

Since no one likes you, no one does

You’ll never get a warm, sweet hug.

REUNION

So great to get together

After all these years

I missed you all, so  very much

It brings me close to tears.

——-

Some of us got married

Some of us divorced

Some of us still single

Some lives were cut too short.

——-

Many have had children

With babies of their own

Grandparents, aunts and uncles

Some moved out, then moved back home.

———

The glory days behind us

Pain and sickness claimed a few

Some are now disabled

Some with scooters, walkers, too.

——-

Memories of the good old days

I loved her heart and soul

I went off to college

She acquired a band of gold.

——-

I married five years later

My wife has passed away

Found out her husband had died, too

If we spoke ….. what would I say?

——-

A tap upon my shoulder

A kiss upon my cheek

She  looked so very pretty

She still remembered me.

———

We drank some wine together

Asked her if she’d like to dance

Two old fogeys …. out on the floor

Rekindling their romance.

INTOLERABLE

Thinks she’s a Kardashian

Her nose up in the air

Only thinks about herself

Doesn’t really care.

——

Probably bipolar

Mood changes high and low

Can aggravate the best of us

Everywhere she goes.

——-

Rolls her eyes, turns away

She’s  curt and so dismissive

Superficial and judgmental

Seldom stops to listen.

——-

Makeup , clothes and hair products

Those currently the rave

At seventeen she has it all

She thinks she has it made.

——

Self entitled, spoiled and rude

She’ll tell you what to do

No respect for what you want

No concern for you.

——

Arrogant and selfish

Has trouble making friends

No one sticks around too long

It’s a shame, a sin.

——

Intelligent, attractive

Prides herself on her good looks

Lacking in personality

Could use a self help book.

——

Needs a psychotherapist

Someone she can talk to

Maybe some medication

A pink pill or a blue.

——-

Everyone around her

Is walking on thin ice

Hoping she’ll be civil

Hoping she’ll be nice.

——

i for one have given up

No longer wasting time.

On someone so intolerable

On someone so unkind.

HE’S DANGEROUS

He is not a leader

No concept of fairplay

He’s always been a bully

He always gets his way.

——-

Brash, rude and so offensive

Using force with all his might

Steam rolling his  way through life

Always looking for a fight.

——

Oblivious to social norms

So sure that he knows best

Lacks manners , has no morals

Wish that …. he’d give it a rest.

——-

Seething with resentment

Wants it all, he never shares

Angry and so jealous

He wants us to be scared.

——-

Power hungry, filled with rage

Greedy and insatiable

On a quest to have it all

Heartless and deplorable.

——/

No morals or a conscience

Acquisitions are his goal

Envisions he’s a dictator

With pockets filled with gold.

——-

Fantasies of dominance

One country at a time

Believes that he can conquer

Doesn’t care if it’s a crime.

——-

Starting off with Greenland

He’s delusional ….?obsessed

Planning to push forward

Who knows what he’ll do next.

——-

There’s going to be a world war

If we can’t reel him in

What were the people thinking

Who elected him again?

FRIGHTENED

Our pride and our compassion
A wealth of history
Soon to be abolished
That’s how it’s going to be.

All the norms we’ve cherished
To be taken away by force
Filled with only hate and rage
This is our new  found course.

Half the nation’s voters
Elected this regime
Is this what they really wanted?
What does this really mean?

So desperate now to take control
Set us back a hundred years
The thought of losing all our rights
Fills me with dread and fear.

Will good win over evil?
With no accountability?
He takes and takes, unopposed
With no responsibility.

Greedy , crass, unbridled
Looking out for billionaires
Nothing that he plans to do
Is respectable or fair.

A bully with the reigns in hand
A dictator wannabe
Now has his own country
Just wait, just wait and see.

Who knows what lies before us
It’s out of our control
He’s forsaken what is just and right
He’s given up his soul.

Where are our guardian angels?
Goliath can not win
But, like a cat with seven lives
Satan’s there protecting him.

SNOWFALL

Unusually cold
Snow coming down
Let’s go outside
There’s snow on the ground.

Wear your snowsuit
Your hat and your boots
Let’s build a snowman
That’s what we’ll do.

I’ll bring a carrot
Two pieces of coal
A scarf for his neck
I’m sure he’ll be cold.

A long carrot nose
With coal for his eyes
When he starts melting
I know I will cry.

Ice skating and sledding
With rosy red cheeks
So glad that it snowed
It’s as white as a sheet.

When we come in
We’ll have a warm cup
Of mama’s sweet cocoa
Made with chocolate and love.

Sit by the fire
Warming our toes
Watching the flames
And the embers that glow.

A day to remember
I’ll never forget
Can’t get any better
As good as it gets.
