MY QUEST

There’s a method to my madness
Something I just have to do
A long awaited wish or dream
At last is coming true.

I can feel it in my heart
The pounding in my chest
Pushing through all obstacles
So little time to rest.

I can shout it from the rooftops
Post a notice, place an ad
I’ve got the urge to follow thru
A dream that I have had.

My confidence, my self esteem
Has been revitalized
I have been awakened, see the light
I’m no longer paralyzed.

It’s  become my quest, my goal
Something I just have to do
Have to face my inhibitions
Address my worth, express my truth.

Incentivized, ignited
A mere spark, now set ablaze
Amidst the ash and embers
I’ve been rescued, I’ve been saved.

SOULMATE

You’re the answer to my madness
The long awaited cure
The moment that I met you
I was certain, I was sure.

The connection felt between us
Was magical, felt right
I wasn’t feeling anxious
Agitated or uptight.

You were so easy going
Always thoughtful, always kind
Got along with everyone
Made the effort, every time.

Not clingy or demanding
Can be close or distant, too
Respects my independence
And, a different point of view.

Likes movies on the big screen
Popcorn, and coke for two
Buys your favorite candy
Always thinking about you.

Has her friends and her own hobbies
Likes to spend time on her own
There’s no pressure or avoidance
Always answers her cell phone.

I’d say I found my soulmate
She is at best …. unique
So glad we have each other
So glad she’s here with me.

CRUELTY

Can’t believe the depth of evil
Circulating through his veins
It’s frightening to think about
I think he is insane.

I watch the clips, the videos
Men kidnapped everyday
I am horrified by what he’s done
He’s taken them away.

No money  appropriated
To send immigrants to El Salvador
He’s paying millions to Bukele
And, plans to send him more.

No phone calls, and no emails
They can’t see the light of day
They are tortured, and yes….brutalized
In so many, awful ways.

No Habeus Corpus, or fair play
The work of a psychopath
Has no compassion for the weak
Just watch him, watch him laugh.

Refusal of an order
Sent to the highest Court
Told to turn those planes around
They should have  ….  from the start.

The cruelty, the hatred
Astounds and horrifies
I wouldn’t put it passed him… no
To have them crucified.

He has no use for immigrants
But, what about his wife?
He sent those men to prison
No due process, there for life.

VENGEANCE

Vengeance is mine…. sayeth Trump
How dare he seek retribution?
If he could.…. believe you me
He’d alter evolution.

No guilt, no shame, no empathy
A total psychopath
Loves to hurt, inflict pain
Engaged in theft and graft.

Resenting academia
Attempting to control
Demanding full subservience
He has no heart or soul.

Trying hard to dictate
The school’s curriculum
If they don’t capitulate
He vows to destroy them.

A bully  …..  plain and simple
Was a failure throughout school
Hell-bent on hurting others
So jealous and spiteful.

The devil’s in the White House
Satan’s at the helm
God please save our nation
We are totally overwhelmed.

HOMEGROWNS

We need to leave the country
Dark money has control
The devil’s in the house
And, he’s coming for your soul.

No regard for law and order
Disregard for what is right
Ignoring court decisions
Best we leave before daylight.

Better hurry, before they stop us
Could be sent to El Salvador
He’s threatening US citizens
Better head for foreign shores.

He’s referencing us as, “Homegrowns”
Threatens to put us on a flight
The worst of prisons known to man
He’d send us there for life.

Our savings soon depleted
About to lose our benefits
Being governed by a dictator
Who doesn’t give a shit?

Billionaires, now the ruling class
No concern for our heath care
Soon they’ll be a curfew
Next, he’ll tell us what to wear.

Organize your documents
Be prepared to leave your home
Can’t imagine what is coming next
Banning iPads and cell phones?

We can try to seek asylum
Apply for citizenship
So much for love of country
He’s taken control of it.

All the talk by politicians
On the TV.… cable news
They have no plan to stop him
They don’t even have a clue.

Pack your bags, I’ve got our tickets
Can’t believe we have to go
But, things are getting worse each day
Even worse than we could know.

CAREFREE

It took so long
To stop feeling the pain
The guilt and remorse
A blemish, a stain.

I don’t want to know
Don’t need to recall
I must have  tripped
Before, hitting the wall.

Lighter, carefree
No burden or baggage
No longer encumbered
With insults or daggers.

I now hear the music
Every note, every chord
I’ve put down my shield
My knife and my sword.

No longer the need
To wonder, to hope
No need to adjust
To learn how to cope.

Free of the memories
The torment, the rage
The longing, the cravings
I felt everyday.

The warmth of the sun
A soft summer breeze
Are all  that I want
Are all that I need.

THE NEED TO DOMINATE

Each day… a stream of consciousness
One day to the next
Wondering what is happening?
It’s anybody’s guess.

How many days before us?
Don’t know what to expect
I learn about the chaos
From TV and from text.

So many, not so fortunate
Being held against their will
A lack of food and water
So afraid they will be killed.

Praying for the prisoners
Those in El Salvador
Don’t know…what is going on
Behind those prison doors.

Not all.…are heartless criminals
Gang members or the like
Some are decent, honest men
This simply isn’t right.

The cruelty, the hatred
What is happening to them?
I can’t stand the thought of it
This truly is a sin.

Denied a court appearance
Imprisoned without cause
The worst of world wide prisons
Being held against the law.

No conscience or compassion
With a lack of empathy
Barbaric, cold and hateful
Are their guards, their enemy.

So hard to get to sleep at night
Thoughts racing through my head
I mourn the weak, the frail of us
So many lost, some dead.

Vast manipulation
Of our fragile economy
Not just here among ourselves
But, across the open sea.

The republicans in Congress
Are ignorant and blind
Can’t see the forest for the trees
We’re running out of time.

Democracy is holding
But it’s being torn apart
By a cruel and evil president
With no honor and no heart.

He’s making empty promises
Why can’t they see the truth?
What about their constituents?
What do they plan to do?

It’s all about the money
His need to dominate
His evil quest for power
Won’t  make our country great.

RUNNING SCARED

Why do you run, from here to there?
Why so frantic, why so scared?
Why the need to push so hard?
Always putting up your guard.

I ask you out…. but you have plans
You pull away, because you can
You’re in a hurry, you’re out the door
Don’t want to see me, anymore.

You can’t commit, you  have to work
Too afraid.…you might get hurt
“Let’s meet for dinner, let’s sit and chat”
You don’t have time, you can’t do that.

You can’t confirm,  your schedule’s full
You live on coffee and rocket fuel
You can’t relax, you’re on the go
Got tickets for.…the evening show.

On the run… both day and night
Always feeling …. so uptight
You’re heading to, or coming from
Another day…. out in the sun.

So many places.…you want to see
You’re too tapped out, you’re never free
You’re always tired,  you’re stretched too thin
Can’t take a chance, the day will end.

The scattered pieces of your life
Filled with heartache, filled with strife
Too hard to manage, can’t take a chance
You’ve given up, on sweet romance.

Guys kept at bay, can’t get too close
They quickly learn… that  you’re a ghost
It’s your MO, to disappear
They get the hint, the message clear.

You feel so anxious, always wired
Wonder why…. you’re so damn tired
Hard to get  ….. to speak to you
You can’t sit still, too much to do.

Put on the brakes, should take it slow
Don’t always need.… somewhere to go
Calm down, relax… what’s this about?
Guess you’re afraid.…you might miss out.

HOTDOGS

Why can’t I enjoy a hotdog?
One with mustard, chili and cheese
Perhaps just some sauerkraut
Some relish or ketchup, please.

Don’t want to be reminded
About the essential nutrients
Or all the various animal parts
The 10 or 30 ingredients.

Just want to grab a hotdog
A quick snack or dinner, too
Warm up a can of pork n beans
That’s what I want to do.

The taste and feel of a hotdog
Brings back great memories
Baseball at the stadium
With just my dad and me.

Seats filled to full capacity
All the fun and the excitement
Hotdogs, fries, popcorn and drinks
All part of the thrill and enticement.

They have so many snacks at games
So many to choose from
Hotdogs, Fritos, Potato Chips
Ice Cream and even gum.

Yes, we know hotdogs aren’t healthy
That’s a fact, it’s crystal clear
But, they sure taste great at Baseball games
With an iced cold glass of beer.

GRAND THEFT AUTO

His  car is wrapped in canvas
It’s worth a  100 K
Can’t leave it on the street, as is
They’ll take his car away.

Car thieves by the dozens
Trolling, looking for
A Land Rover or Tesla
Perhaps a new Audi class 4.

Forget the Fords or Chevys
They are a hassle, a dead end
A Toyota or a Honda, though
Now, they bring the money in.

The garage somewhat amazing
Six guys to each and every car
They strip it down for the parts
Or intact… sell as they are.

Takes them twenty minutes
They are masters of their trade
They know what to junk or cover up
They know just what to save.

If your car is stolen
Call the Police immediately
If you can act fast enough
They could halt  delivery.

They swap out the new engine
Can change the Vin, at will
They are very talented
They are extremely skilled.

Grand theft auto, often glamorized
A business run by thieves
A money making enterprise
They can get just what you need.

Customers pay a fortune
For cars at dealerships
The only people driving luxury cars
Are the extremely, amazingly rich?

Unless you know a felon
Now he could hook you up
I’ll take a Mercedes SUV
I’ll fly cross country, to pick it up.

Don’t want to get arrested
Can get up to twenty years
Depending on a given state
Most criminal’s biggest fear.

Bottom line don’t get caught
If you do, keep your mouth shut
Never want to cooperate
Don’t ever give them up!

Do your time, keep quiet
Your family will be safe
Just like in the Sopranos
Your family’s treated great.

Don’t attempt to stop a car theft
No, not by yourself
Call the 911 help line
For police and professional help.
