CRYSTAL CLEAR

A penetrating wound
The weapon never found
No footprints to dust
The snow melted to the ground.

Looking for a knife
But it never did appear
Seems the weapon…. never surfaced
But like the ice…. was crystal clear.

The large drips fell from the roof
They had frozen there in place
No one thought to look there
Once melted… were erased.

Such a clever weapon
Much better than a knife
An ingenious means of death
Could be used to take a life.

Can you convict without a weapon?
Evidence equals a crime
But without any fingerprints
Can you prosecute this time?

The ice had simply melted
The investigation took too long
The weapon that was used
Had melted, it was gone.
