The empty beach, the stinging sand
The wind blowing thru our hair
Happy you are with me
To know that you still care.

A storm approaching, the waves are rough
I try and close my eyes
The ripples on the sandy beach
Capture memories of you and I.

No boats in sight, the peaking waves
The smell of the ocean air
Sitting here alone with you
Not a worry, not a care.

No beach chairs or tents seen for miles
The sand castles starting to crumble
The tide is high upon the shore
The sound of thunder rumbles.

Soon the rain will come down
It will fall upon the water
The birds, the crabs and both of us
Will have to look for shelter.

Hand in hand, hearts as one
No better treasure we could find.
The sandy beach, the ocean’s shore
We share the gift of a lifetime.

    1. Thank you, Walt! Wish I could use an emoji to show my appreciation. I can only access them on my cell phone. Just haven’t figured out …how to do it. I’m on my laptop, right now. But, thank you MY FRIEND! I always appreciate receiving comments from you. The best I can do is a smiley face…. πŸ™‚

  1. This is the first time I’ve visited your blog … you are quite talented! I’ve tried to write poetry, but other than an occasionaly limerick, I am a bust at writing poetry or fiction. Ah well … we each have our niche. Beautiful poem.

By the way … you can copy and paste emojis into your blog or comments. I have a set I keep in a tab on my desktop and just use them as needed. https://emojipedia.org/people/

      1. I enjoyed your post very much! I never get as much time as I would like to read other people’s posts, but I try to hit a few each day anyway. I will be back for more! πŸ˜‰
