PROMPT: CEREMONY
They will have a ceremony
They will raise their flags
They will salute to those who have made
The ultimate sacrifice.
Honor, duty and loyalty
They stand for what is right
Willing to do whatever it takes
They hold their ground and fight.
Don’t take freedom for granted
It comes with a hefty price
Many wounded, captured and/or tortured
So many have lost their lives.
We have parades and picnics
We celebrate their service
Men and women in uniform
With honor they serve to protect us.

Very nice Patty, but the loss of life and limbs in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan did nothing to protect us. We lost our lives because we weren’t and still aren’t allowed to win. Good men and women died. Died! And goid men and women are still dying! Rant over.

So true! War is senseless! My father was a POW in Japan for three years. He was also a purple heart recipient. I certainly don’t have the answers. I protested the Vietnam war back when… however…I was a Capt. myself…in the US Air Force. I come from a military family. I want to believe in honor and love of country. Right now I am sickened by trump and everything that’s going on! I was a medical officer…no combat! I’m a Physician Assistant (P.A.). I’m all for non-violent means of settling issues. I lost friends and family members in the Vietnam war!
I’m sorry if my poem upset you. 😦

It didn’t upset me. I also was a Captain in the USAF. Minuteman missile launch control officer, combat crew commander. ☺❤
