THRU THE CRACKS

Coming unglued
Falling apart
Like Humpty Dumpty
Don’t know where to start.

Too many pieces
Scattered around
Though I have tried
Will never be found.

Too close to the brink
Out on the ledge
Too close for comfort
Too close to the edge.

Worn, torn and shattered
My heart on the shelf
Waiting for someone
To come and to help.

Thought if I waited
Just long enough
You might come back
But, you gave us up.

Days into nights
Weeks into years
I’m helplessly waiting
Still waiting here.

But, too many pieces
To try and put back
No way to recover
What fell thru the cracks.
