A LONG AWAITED CURE

The pavement is too hot for me
I don’t want to go outside
The atmosphere is stifling
It’s enough to make me cry.

There’s no breeze to bring me comfort
There’s no shade to shelter me
I’m vulnerable, unprotected
It’s not the way that things should be.

I’m waiting for the forecast
For the wind to soon pick up
For the clouds to cover up the sun
Hoping it will be enough.

Praying for the rain to fall
To fill the ponds and streams
To cool me down , to soak the ground
To pacify my dreams.

I feel myself shriveling
As my thoughts drift away
My nerves so frail and brittle
They have started to decay.

As I look out from my window
My vision soon obscured
By the shower that engulfs us
Such a long, awaited cure.

      1. The only thing better than dancing in the rain is running naked in the rain, but one has to be a bit discreet about that… 🙂

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming; “Wow! What a ride!” Hunter S. Thompson
