NYC

Shameful secrets, hurtful words
Spoken unmercifully in your mind
Memories that are haunting you
Those times you crossed the line.

Foolishly you made mistakes
You gave away too much
So trusting and so innocent
You trembled with each touch.

Looking back you bow your head
Wishing you could wipe away
The many things that you did
You regret those foolish days.

You try your best to bury all
The hurt and humiliation
But, the regret and guilt persists
And the naked degradation.

Past mistakes, guilty pleasure
Will you ever be set free?
What can you do to stop the noise?
To block the memories?
