Let’s sit and chat the day away
Would you like a cup of tea?
I’ve made some scones and macaroons
Please come and sit with me.
Let’s converse out in the garden
Underneath the canopy
Let’s spend some time together
Alone just you and me.
I have so much to tell you
We’ve been apart for quite awhile
So glad that we can sit and talk
So nice to see you smile.
We’ve shared so many secrets
So many treasures one by one
We’ve known each other for so long
Since we were very young.
Now that we’re getting older
Our hair is turning gray
But, I know inside we’re still those girls
Who loved to dance and play.
I think about your mother
I still see her sitting there
She was always oh, so good to me
I knew how much she cared.
Sunday dinners at your house
Our walks thru Central Park
The fun we had on holidays
Playing “hide n seek” till dark.
Our children all have grown up now
They have children of their own
Time seems to pass by so fast
Someday we’ll be alone.
So glad you stopped by for tea
Let’s enjoy this afternoon
Please pass the cream and sugar
Have another macaroon.
Though we’ve had our share of heartache
Let’s try not to forget
The beginning of our friendship
And give thanks that we had met.

A charming poem. 🙂 There aren’t many problems that can’t be helped, by sharing over a cup of tea. 😀

🙂 Chris is a really good friend! We’ve been friends since childhood. The problem is that she lives in Pennsylvania and I live in Florida. We live many miles away from each other. The poem is a fantasy…. more of a projection for the future. 💙

I hope you both get to spend time.
My friend in the UK is sick. So am I today… At home here in SA. Missing her and praying for her. Chris is lucky to have you.

Your friend is lucky to have you, as well! My friend is also sick. Hope you feel better, soon! Chris has to spend a lot of her time at home. We email daily and see each other…. only occasionally. Thank goodness for email! 🌻
